In today's show, we spoke to Aunty Florence de Villiers - Veteran political activist speaking to us about women’s struggle. Affectionately known as Aunty Florrie, is a
mother of four who believes they have created a situation where women are freer
than in those years and more involved than ever before. De Villiers said “the biggest problem facing women was
financing the education of their children, as many were single parents. “In
those years, husbands would go to the mines and never come back. We had to
carry the burden and responsibility of the whole family. “There's so much work
to be done. Making people aware of their freedom is one thing. “Skills and
education is another,” she said.
