We also spoke to Clare Pretorius - Programme director of Fusion. She explained more about how they building meaningful relationships
with broken young people caught in cycles of destructive behaviour. Founded in 2004 Fusion is a
community-based NGO operating in Manenberg that aims to educate young people
formerly involved in lifestyles of destruction in order to help them choose an
alternative way of life. It involves one-on-one counselling, group
support and refers young people to training courses such as bricklaying,
catering and baking. They also recently took to the streets of
Manenberg in an effort to stop the gang violence that’s flared up in the area
over the past few weeks.
Good Samaritans are encourage to make
donations to Fusion as they hope to raise R360 000 for its annual operational
costs. For further information you can contact
Clare on 072 605 2857 or send an email to clare@fusionmanenberg.org.za
