1 organ donor can save 7 lives

Samantha Volschenk - Executive Director of Organ Donor Foundation joined us on the line. She was speaking to us about the 2013 Save Seven Lives Campaign. The campaign is encouraging members of the public to become organ donors this August as one person can save 7 lives when they become an organ donor by the use of 1 heart, 2 lungs, 2 kidneys, 1 liver and 1 pancreas. The foundation is taking their awareness drive one step further by encouraging everyone who signs up as an organ donor during August to tell “seven” more people about it either family members, colleagues or friends. They would like to reach a target of 10,000 registered organ donors this year triple the amount of registrations received last year. Remember there is no cost charged to register as an organ donor.  To register or for more information contact the Organ Donor Foundation on (021) 426 0198 or visit www.odf.org.za or 0800 22 66 11.
