In today’s show, we were joined by Ryland Fisher - Executive Chairperson of the Cape Town Festival. We were talking about their Community Festivals. One festival took place last weekend at Atlantis with the second Community Festival taking place at Eikendal Primary in Kraaifontein tomorrow. According to Mr Fisher, the Community Festivals aims to ensure that there is a platform where new talents can be discovered, while the importance of arts and culture is promoted and to contribute to the rebuilding of communities, as well as reinforce and celebrate a culture of unity within the community. The festivsl will start at 9am. From 9am to 12pm, there will be a Youth Workshop Programme, themed “Leadership, Diversity and Tolerance”, with a group of approximately 200 participating learners from various primary schools from Kraaifontein. From 12pm to 5pm, the best of local upcoming talent and Cape Town entertainment with stand-up comedian Wayne McKay, and special performances by N2 and The Rockets. There will also be ‘Come and Play’ sport activities, jumping castles and food stalls among the array of planned festivities. For more information visit http://www.capetownfestival.co.za/
