11 February - Labour - Skills shortage still an issue in South Africa
In today’s show, we spoke to Adrian Young – Chairperson of the African Academy. The Academy’s purpose is the transition of disadvantaged persons from unemployment to rewarding technical careers in the economic mainstream. We were talking about skills shortage. According to Mr Young there is a severe shortage of suitably qualified and experienced engineers, technologists, designers and technicians even though there is abundance of job and career opportunities in this industry.
