26 January - Human Rights - People urged to support Africa for Haiti Project
On Sakhisizwe today we were joined on the line by Buhle Mpofu-Makamanzi – from African Monitor. The African Monitor is an independent African Body which acts as a catalyst to monitor development funding commitments, delivery and impact on the grassroots, and to bring strong additional African voices to the development agenda. We were talking about Africa for Haiti Project. Across Africa, government, church, business and civil society leaders are mobilizing support for the people of Haiti as they try to rebuild after a devastating Earthquake that recently struck that country. The Africa for Haiti Project will identify, in partnership with Haitian civil society organizations, initiatives in which it can assist. It also hopes to provide Africans from all walks of life, an opportunity to demonstrate their collective solidarity and support for the people of Haiti thereby uniting Africans in compassion and giving but Mrs Mpofu-Makamanzi explained more. For more information on the Pan-African Solidarity with Haiti visit www.africaforhaiti.com or contact (021) 713 2801.
