Today we spoke to Mandisa Nongonongo – from Thuthuzela Care Centre. The National Prosecuting Authority established the centres in partnership with the Departments of Health, Justice and Constitutional Development, Social Development and the SA police service, to strengthen the fight against the abuse of women and children. Children need to be equipped with the necessary resources and skills to excel in life the centre are doing a great job in providing that platform. And our last interview was with David Lewis and Moosa Salie Co-chairperson of the World Network of Users and Survivors of Psychiatry. The Network grew out of users’ and survivors’ demands for recognition and representation. Originally meeting at the biennial World Federation for Mental Health conferences, it is now a permanent international organization. They are currently busy working on a new project called Ubuntu Centre. Moosa says the centre is an expression of their desire to create alternatives in their lives and the lives of other people.
