We also spoke to Henry Valentine – Director of Antarctica and Islands from the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism. The Department of Science and Technology has declared June Antarctica Month to make South Africans more aware of the unique and exciting research done by South African scientists on this frozen continent. The MTN Sciencentre will host a series of events celebrating Antarctica during June. This includes a mini-exhibition, a screening of a documentary "Endurance of Antarctica", a talk by Dr Pierre Cilliers on South Africa's involvement in the International Polar Years in Antarctica as well as the rare opportunity to explore the SA Agulhas. We closed off the show with an interview with Dianne Wilcox - Executive Committee Member of the Association of South African Women in Science and Engineering (SA WISE). In May we recognize Child Protection Week!

Child Protection Week is an annual observance dedicated to raising awareness about the rights and well-being of children. It typically includes a series of events, campaigns, and activities aimed at promoting child safety, preventing abuse, and advocating for policies and practices that support children's healthy development.  Molo Songololo is a registered non-profit organization that promotes the rights and protection of children and youth, and especially girls. Their work aligns with the goals of Child Protection Week, focusing on advocacy, education, and empowerment to create a safer and more inclusive environment for children.
