Every child deserves a smile

Smiling little children are the most adorable thing every, a child's smile has the ability to lighten up the room.

Which is why the Smile foundation is there to assist children who need corrective Plastic and Reconstructive surgery. These are children who suffer from treatable facial deformities such as Cleft Lip and Palate, burn victims, Moebius syndrome (facial paralysis) and other conditions.

Hedley Lewis, the CEO, spoke to us about the good work the NPO does. They assist children between the ages 0 - 18 years old. So, in a case whereby a child needs reconstructive surgery but the parents cannot afford it then the Smile foundation will help.

In South Africa at least 1 in 700 to 750 children has Cleft Lip and Palate. It is vital to have the reconstructive surgery as without it children's speech is affected and eating is a challenge.

The Smile Foundation works with hospitals all over the country. Doctors working with children who need the foundation's services will refer them to the organisation and the parents don't pay anything for the services.

The NPO recently had Smile week in April 2019 whereby 11 children were given their forever smiles in just that one week.

To keep doing the lovely work they do they get donations from companies and individuals.

For more information you can go to their website which is https://smilefoundationsa.org/ and you can even download their app which is Smile Foundation from Google Play Stores.
