In today's show, we spoke to Dr Imraan Hoosen - A leading paediatric dentist at the Pampers Institute about caring for baby’s first set of teeth. It appears that
healthy teeth are enormously important to a baby’s overall health. Baby teeth
act as placeholders for adult teeth and therefore without a healthy set of milk
teeth, young children will experience trouble chewing and forming words and
sounds, when learning to speak. It also affects the way a child’s jaw grows. Dr
Hoosen advises parents to commence caring for baby’s gums right away by using a
soft, moistened washcloth or piece of gauze to gently wipe baby’s gums at least
twice a day especially after feedings and before bedtime.
