Parliament's Mlindi Mpindi & Sango Sihluko
In today's show, we spoke to Lusizo Sheron Makhubela-Mashele - Chairperson of the Steering Committee on Youth Parliament and Sango Sihluko - one of the delegates was Instudio to tell us more about Youth Parliament. As the commemoration of Youth month draws to a close Parliament was honoured to host Youth Parliament during this month with “Youth at the centre of economic opportunities” as the theme. Youth Parliament is a national discussion platform provided by Parliament to encourage young people through active debates to take part in shaping the country and deepening democracy. This year saw young people attending a workshop in Cape Town whereby they identified, unpacked and discussed issues affecting the youth of the country. Several government departments also made presentations at the workshop while young people raised their concerns and came up with sustainable and creative solutions to these problems according to their various commissions such as Youth and Economic Participation, Promotion of healthy and positive lifestyles, Education and skills development, Youth and Rural Development and Social Cohesion.
