Brothers for Life pledges to eliminate violence against women and children

We closed off with Patrick Godana - Gender and social justice activist for Sonke Gender Justice Network speaking to us about Brothers for Life’s declaration and pledge by South Africa men on the elimination of violence against women and children. Brothers for Life is a national campaign targeting mainly men aged 30 and over and it seeks to address the risks associated with having multiple and concurrent partnerships, sex and alcohol, gender based violence and promote HIV testing, male involvement in PMTCT and health seeking behaviours in general. The campaign is a collaborative effort led by the South African National AIDS Council (SANAC), Department of Health, USAID/PEPFAR, Johns Hopkins Health and Education in South Africa (JHHESA), Sonke Gender Justice, UNICEF , IDMT , the United Nations System in South Africa and more than forty other civil society partners working in the field of HIV prevention and Health. Brothers for Life is encouraging their fellow South Africa men to take the pledge "NOT IN MY NAME!" and make the declaration of eliminating violence against women and children.
