We also heard from Linda Dyasi - Programme Co-ordinator in Klipfontein and Mitchells Plain Health District. We were speaking about the department’s drive aimed at inoculating especially high risk people to reduce influenza-related morbidity and mortality and the transmission of the influenza virus within communities. The campaign runs until June 30th, 2012 and 100 000 free vaccine doses have been allocated across all districts to community health centres and clinics. People who fall under the priority group are encouraged to go to their nearest health facility to request the vaccination.
