12 September - Health - Pregnant women urged to prevent Foetal Alcohol Syndrome
In today’s show, we spoke to Leana Olivier – CEO at the Foundation for Alcohol Related Research. We were talking about Foetal Alcohol Syndrome. FAS is the most serious set of permanent physical and mental birth defects associated with alcohol consumption during pregnancy. On Friday it was the World Foetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) Day. This day is held each year at nine minutes past nine on the ninth day of the ninth month to draw attention to the fact that women should not drink alcohol for nine months whilst pregnant.
