16 August - Human Rights - Getup Standup Afrika to host NHI Seminar

In today's show we spoke to Damaris Kiewiets – Chairperson of the Cape Metro Health Forum. On Thursday, the 18th of August she will be part of a panel discussing the National Health Insurance. The seminar is hosted by the Getup Standup Afrika. The National Health Insurance has been proposed by the South African government and is aimed at achieving universal access to good quality health care for all South Africans. According to media reports, a number of civil society organisations and labour unions have come out in favour of the NHI but business interest groups are concerned about the cost of implementing the scheme. The seminar is on Thursday, the 18th of August, on 2nd floor, Armoury Building, Buchanan Square, 160 Sir Lowry Road in Woodstock. The programme starts at 13:00PM – 14:00PM. Members of the public are invited to attend. For more information contact Getup Standup afrika Coordinator Nkwame Cedile on 078 227 6008 or send an email to nkwame.cedile@gmail.com
