International Mother Language Day to promote mother tongue and Arts Update

We also spoke to Thokozile Mabeqa – Head of the Department of Xhosa at the University of the Western Cape. We were talking about the International Mother Language Day, which is on Sunday the 21st of February. This day has been observed yearly since February 2000 to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. Ms Mabeqa explained more about the importance of mother tongue.
