The Man Kind Project

We were privileged to have with us two remarkable individuals who are dedicated to fostering positive masculinity and personal transformation in South Africa. We have Earl Mentor and Nick Holliman. Earl Mentor is an author and peace activist who has been deeply involved with the Mankind Project community in Cape Town.

His journey and insights provide valuable perspectives on how men can contribute to creating safer, more nurturing environments for all. We're honored to have Nick Holliman, the National Center Director for the Mankind Project South Africa based in Cape Town. Nick's leadership has been instrumental in guiding an organization that supports men in their personal development journeys towards emotional accountability, integrity, and service.

Nick says what he learned from the Mankind Project community is how the model focus on men's health and focusing on why healing is essential. And it's an opportunity for men to navigate their personal challenges. And has been empowered to become an agent for change, where I help foster environments where safety and well-being can thrive.

So men who have experienced trauma, who battle with anger, or who have been caught in cycles of destructive behaviors, need support and intervention to heal. So the Mankind Project really helps with this healing process in terms of involving mental, emotional, and sometimes physical rehabilitation. And would love to make sense of what I'm saying.

When men begin to heal, they can transform not only their own lives, but also the lives of those around them. So healing allows them to step into their roles as protectors and nurturers within the communities. It also helps enable them to engage in positive social interactions and to also become mentors and to contribute to the overall safety and well-being of the communities, particularly in high conflict communities where we witness a high rate of mental health amongst the vast majority of young men.

There programs provide a structured environment, especially the Mankind Project as well as the Head, Heart and Soul Ocean view contingent where young men can receive consistent support and guidance. So mentors can help young men stay focused on their education, pursue their passions and avoid the pitfalls of crime and violence that often plague our communities.
