Currently in South Africa and around the world many children experience inequality through the educational systems. Many children fall behind and don't know enough information about sexual health and other important topics. Its especially relevant to focus attention on both girls and boys as opposed to only focusing on one or the other. Wonke Mapeyi and Thulani Sam are two people who saw the relevance of this and therefore decided to begin Elevator Ground.
Elevator Ground is a movement, starting in 2017, that focuses on focusing on empowering both girls and boys, giving awareness on leadership and sexual reproductive health. They do this in order to try and eliminate inequality by providing aid and education to help children gain a competitive edge. By raising awareness on leadership and sexual reproductive health, Elevator Ground is fostering a generation of informed and empowered individuals ready to lead and innovate
.
We had a great conversation with Wonke Mapeyi in which we discussed the inspiration behind Elevator Ground, the key programs/activities that they offer, as well as challenges and successes related to these processes. Come hear Wonke speak passionately about how important it is to invest in these young ones.
Keep up with them.
