We closed off with an interview with Dr Teboho Maitse - Acting chairperson of the Commission for Gender Equality. She was speaking to us about the recent public hearing that they convened last week Thursday regarding gender transformation in women’s football. The hearing came about after an initial complaint from the South African Women’s Football Association (SAWFA), who alleged that the South African Football Association (SAFA) was not taking the interests of women’s football into consideration, had denied them membership, and had failed to implement the solutions of the Soccer Indaba of 1997 and Football Commission of 2002, in relation to the formulation and implementation of programmes to support and uplift women’s football.
