We spoke to Mary Ovenstone. We were talking about a workshop that Mary will be facilitating about 21st Century Relationship in September at UCT. According to the facilitators, this workshop will empower you as an individual and as a couple with valuable information and useful communication, legal and financial skills for your relationship, marriage or partnership. Mary explained more about what kind of challenges 21st Century relationships face and what could be the contributing factors. The workshop will be on September 20th at UCT’s Leslie Bldng between 9 and 5PM and it costs R750 per person and R1000 per couple, so a friendly advice drag your partner along even if it’s your ex coz you will pay less. Later we spoke to Waheeda Amien – Muslim Marriages Forum. We discussed Muslim Marriages. Last week the Commission on gender equality hosted a dialogue on Muslim Marriages. One of the issues they tackled was about legalizing Muslim marriages. Waheeda explained more about the outcomes of that discussion and the action they planning to take in legalizing Muslim Marriages. Our last interview was with Khanyisile Mbongwa, Zipho Dayile and Liziwe Dabula. They were here to talk about a gathering they are organizing that will take place this coming weekend termed “Women in Conversation Vol1”. As young women they are trying to find the role of a woman in this modern society. When I was young I was told the role of a woman is in the kitchen to be a homemaker but things have changed women have careers now they head big corporations some are big shot academics so what is the role of a woman now. If you have an answer to that question or you’ve been asking yourself the same question then make sure you don’t miss that this gathering organized by women for women kwa Mlamli in NY146 – 15, Gugulethu between 14h00 – 18h00PM on Saturday the 30th of August.
