Today we heard from Noluthando Ntlokwana – An attorney from the Women’s Legal Centre. We were talking about the Choice on Termination of Pregnancy Act. The Act was passed in 1997 and gives women the option to have an early, legal and safe termination according to their individual beliefs. Before this act, many women died from having illegal “backstreet” abortions. According to the Act, woman or a girl is only able to have an abortion or terminate her pregnancy within the first three months (12 weeks) of her pregnancy but the Act sets out conditions under which a women or girl can have the procedure of this time period. Sis Noluthando explained more on those conditions. For more information about the services that they provide contact their offices on (021) 421 1380 or go to www.wlce.co.za
We closed off the show with an interview with Bruce Nkala – From Ebuhlanti Men Against Aids. They provide counseling, education and training on HIV/AIDS related issues. Bruce explained more about the services they provide. If you want more information contact him on (021) 633 3458.
