Research subjects required by UCT for study on UV-Treated Milk and Lactose intolerant individuals

Dr Yumna Albertus-Kajee - Research Officer at UCT/MRC Exercise Science and Sports Medicine for the Sports Science Institute of South Africa was Instudio to tell us more about their study on UV-Treated Milk and Lactose intolerant individuals. The University of Cape Town and Medical Research Council’s Exercise Science and Sports Medicine Research Unit is recruiting both lactose intolerant and tolerant people for a research study that aims to compare how self-reported lactose intolerant and tolerant people cope with UV-treated cow’s milk versus regular pasteurised cow’s milk. The research will involve 30 participants going for two visits to the SSISA for a lactose intolerance genetic test and a lactose challenge test. Interested participants should be aged between 18 and 60 years, apparently healthy, have no known food allergies or intolerances (apart from milk) and no known gastrointestinal conditions. For further information or to apply by July 31st you can contact Dr Albertus-Kajee on (021) 650 4567 or send an email to yumna.albertus@uct.ac.za
