Newly elected Lansdowne CPF vows to tackle crime

We closed off with Thetha Sithole - newly elected chairperson of the Lansdowne Community Police Forum to tell us more about their plans for 2013. The new committee members were elected last month and they have vowed to tackle criminal activities. Mr Sithole believes that it is imperative for them to develop a strategy that will be in line with the national and provincial crime strategies and to reduce crime, improve the efficacy of the justice system, manage and improve the perception of crime in the community, the integrity of policing in communities and to educate pupils and communities about cyber crime. He promised this year will be different as they establish neighbourhood watches and street committees to encourage the community to take full ownership of their places of residences and keep their eyes and ears open. He also encourage residents to report crime no matter how petty because they need to unite in fighting crime. For further information you can contact Mr Sithole on 073 283 1030 or the Lansdowne Police Station on (021) 700 9000.
