16 September - Arts, Culture & Environment - Artscape to host Imvelo Festival
In today’s show, we were joined by Sindile Moya – Co producer of Ibhekile Evuzayo which will be staged from the 21st till the 24th of September at the Artscape Arena. The show forms part of the Artscape’s Imvelo Festival which runs through September and also include a Jazz Big Band Extravaganza, a Choral Sounds concert and a tribute to jazz legend Victor Ntoni. The musical tells a story of a young man’s journey into manhood, it gives an awesome display of the richness that is in isiXhosa culture, accompanied by percussion instruments. This production forms part of the Artscape’s Indigenous Arts Department which was established in 2007, aiming to develop, mentor and preserve South African indigenous customs through the arts at grassroots level.
