Talks about Ectopic Pregnancy with Clinician Nthabiseng Mdluli

A very good afternoon today on Sakhisizwe Building the nation Boudienasie we were speaking to Nthabiseng Mduli who is a clinician by profession, a motivational speaker and is currently studying Clinical Psychology at the University of South Africa.

She was informing us about a very interesting type of pregnancy that according to National Centre for Biotechnology Information in South Africa (SA), EP was reported to occur in 11 out of every 1000 reported pregnancies.

In as much as it is rare it is also common, it is said to be life-threatening and the Pregnancy that we are talking about is called Ectopic Pregnancy.

She gave us a detailed explanation of ectopic pregnancy that it occurs in a fallopian tube, which carries eggs from the ovaries to the uterus and that sometimes, an ectopic pregnancy occurs in other areas of the body, such as the ovary, abdominal cavity or the lower part of the uterus (cervix), which connects to the vagina.

An ectopic pregnancy can't proceed normally. The fertilized egg can't survive, and the growing tissue may cause life-threatening bleeding, if left untreated and Ectopic pregnancy can happen to any woman from the ages of 21 and upwards.
It is best that if you are pregnancy and you get random bleedings, pelvic pains, abdominal pains while you are pregnant go and get checked as soon as possible.

Some of the symptoms include, a missed period and other signs of ectopic pregnancy are tummy pain low down on one side, vaginal bleeding or a brown watery discharge, pain in the tip of your shoulder and discomfort when peeing or pooing.
Nthabiseng also warns that you are able to have an ectopic pregnancy and not have any symptoms as well as it is not generic any woman can get it.
