Join hands with Bush Radio 89.5FM by donation R23 or more
Bush Radio 89.5FM started as a pirate radio stations giving a voice to the
communities of Cape Town under Apartheid. With a vision of freeing the
broadcast airwaves, providing broadcasting in the languages spoken by
ordinary people and focusing on issues affecting people's daily lives, South
Africa's first community station, Bush Radio 89.5FM was formed.
Since then, Bush Radio has been offering broadcast access to the people of
Cape Town for the past 23 years since our first legal licensed broadcast on
the 9th August 1995, and our training opportunities since our formation the
early 1990's, training over 3000 people in broadcasting (radio and TV) and
print.
Today, Bush Radio 89.5FM is non-profit community radio that broadcasts to
the Cape Metropole 24 hours per day and discuss issues of human rights,
gender, labour, health, crime and crime prevention, housing, land and
sports, while promoting local artists, schools and events.
As we celebrate our 23rd year of our legal broadcasting, we are running a
pledge drive during our birthday month where we ask YOU to support our work
by making a donation.
We call on individuals, former interns, staff, volunteers, board members,
NGOs/CBOs, artists, musicians, designers and companies who have participated
in our broadcasting and training or anyone who want to support our work, to
contribute towards making a difference in the lives of others.
Through such donation, you will contribute to the continued existence of
Bush Radio, and also make the opportunity available to others to benefit
from Bush Radio's services.
