Yvette Hardie
On the show today, we heard from Yvette Hardie - Executive Director of ASSITEJ SA and President of ASSITEJ International. On Tuesday, March 5th ASSITEJ South Africa in collaboration with its partners and networks launched the "Take a Child to the Theatre Today" global campaign which aims to engage with the theatre community, government departments, the private sector, and the general public to advocate for the value of theatre in the lives of children and young people while also encouraging the public capable of taking children to the theatre to do so. A number of major theatre houses have come on board. Artscape’s Director of Audience Development and Education – Marlene Le Roux said they got involved because they share same values. ASSITEJ SA encourages all South Africans to make a small but important contribution of R10 by smsing “Theatre4Youth” to 38490 to sponsor children and youth to visit the theatre. The World Day for Theatre for Children and Young People is on the 20th of March 2013, if you want to get involved or for more information contact ASSITEJ SA on (021) 822 0070/1/2 or visit www.assitej.org.za
