TB/HIV Care Association to launch Valentine's Day Campaigns

We closed off with an interview with Alison Best - Advocacy, communication and social mobilisation co-ordinator for the TB/HIV Care Association. The TB/HIV Care Association is launching two interlinked campaigns in light of Valentine's Day this week Thursday as individuals tend to engage in risky sexual activity on that day. The first campaign is in partnership with Metrorail "Testing for HIV as a couple" which encourages couples to test for HIV together because this has many benefits including that they can then make informed decisions about HIV prevention and family planning. The other is "Love = Condom" to promote the use of condoms, by handing out free "Love" and "Choice" condoms at outreaches across the country and demonstrating the correct use of male and female condoms. A concurrent social media campaign is running where they are asking people to adopt a "twibbon" saying "Love=Condom" on their Facebook and twitter profile pictures which aims to promote the idea that condoms are not just for casual encounters, but are part of a loving relationship. And can even be sexy and fun! For further information you can contact the TB/HIV Care Association on (021) 425 0050 or visit www.tbhivcare.org
