Human Rights - Railway Safety Regulator investigates Pretoria train collision

On Sakhisizwe today, we spoke to Nkululeko Poya - CEO of the Railway Safety Regulator. We were talking about their investigation that’s currently underway into the train collision that occurred last week in Pretoria. The Railway Safety Regulator’s mandate is to oversee safety in railway transport, monitor and ensure safety compliance through the conducting of audits, inspections, safety assessments and occurrence investigations The two trains were travelling on the down main line towards Saulsville, when train number 9017 crashed into the stationary train number 9009, resulting in a rear end collision and causing more than 100 people injured and the driver of train number 9017 trapped in the motor coach.
