In today's show, we heard from Hazel Bowen - National President of the South African Association of
Women Graduates. She was speaking to us about how they committed to
improving the status of women and girls and the Margaret Lindsay Memorial
Lecture they sponsors annually. The South African Association of Women
Graduates is a non profit organisation founded in 1923 and an affiliate of the
International Federation of University Women, and the Federation of University
Women of Africa. It’s committed to improving the status of women and girls,
furthering the development of education, assisting women to move into
decision-making positions, protecting human rights and promoting peace. SAAWG
promotes the tertiary education of women and their self-development over their
lifespan as it seeks equity for women graduates, cross cultural insights and
co-operation, and societal advancement. The organisation's great underlying purpose is world
peace, brought about through education and international friendship. For
