Iziko Museum Heritage Week & Arts Update

The national Heritage Week theme is: “Celebrating Heroes and Heroines of the Liberation Struggle in South Africa”. Heritage Day, is jam-packed with exciting performances, activities and events. The celebration kicks off at 10am, in the Amphitheatre at the Iziko South African Museum. On the day, individuals and groups are invited to showcase their talent at the open mic session. Traditional dance performances, ghoema entertainers, magic shows, drumming sessions, poetry, music and more, will be hosted. Nigel Vermaas joined us for the Arts update, to share with the listeners what’s hot and what’s not in the Art sector. Tsepo Wa Mamatu the final winner for 2011 of the GIPCA Baxter Theatre Centre Theatre Arts Admin Collective’s Emerging Theatre Director Bursary will be in Cape Town on Monday afternoon 2 – 4.45pm to hold auditions for the play that he will be directing for the bursary. He is looking for Thabo: Black male with the gift of the gab, well-spoken; Zanele: Strong Black Female; Juju: Playful black male/female; Floyd: Side-kick to Juju/male; Mma-Mofokeng: Mbeki’s mother; Georgie: Mbeki’s sidekick. Rehearsals take place from the 31st October with performances taking place from the 29th November to 3rd December. You need to be available for this period.
