Join the Queue for Sanitation, Safety & Dignity Protest
We also heard from Andrew Ardington – from the Social Justice Coalition. The Social Justice Coalition is an independent group that believes in freedom, equality, non-violence and human rights. We were talking about the Queue for Sanitation, Safety & Dignity Protest that they will be staging on Saturday the 20th of March. They demand safe, clean and private toilets for residents of Khayelitsha and all informal settlements in South Africa. According to the SJC, the supply of insufficient and inadequate toilets to informal settlements is a violation of the constitutional rights of all to safety and security, dignity and privacy and an equal access to water and sanitation. They are calling on people to stand in solidarity with the 500 000 Capetonians who don't have access to basic sanitation, Andrew explained more. The event will take place on Saturday the 20th at the Sea Point Promenade (opposite SABC) from 10:00am till 12:30pm.
