23 July - Labour - Metrorail workers to down tools!!!
Today we spoke to Peter Greyling – from the United Transport and Allied Trade Union or Utatu. It is reported that United Transport and Allied Trade Union and South African Transport and Allied Workers' Union members at Metrorail plan to down tools on Monday. In a joint statement, the two unions said Metrorail will be served with a strike notice on Friday which could leave two million commuters stranded, as all commuter rail operations would be non-operational. Mr Greyling explained more. Unfortunately our efforts to get a comment from Metrorail failed. For more information contact the union offices on (011) 728 0120 or visit www.utatu.org.za
