Today we spoke to Ines Meyer – from Community Connections. The organisation provides training in community development, non-profit legislation, fundraising and report writing, and administration and financial management, as well as computer literacy classes to other NGO’s in the province. We also spoke to Vuyo Ngaye – from The Business Place Philippi. The centre offers a free walk-in-business support service and basic training for entrepreneus. We closed off the show with an interview with Lesiba Seshoka – National spokesperson for the National Union of Mineworkers. The National Union of Mineworkers has remained adamant that they will not discuss retrenchment with any particular comapnay which argues power blackouts as their reason for cutting jobs. It was announced that 6900 Gold Fields jobs were at risk due to the current electricity crisis. Lesiba told us more about the outcome of the meeting that was held last week to discuss this issue.
