28 October - Gender - Workshop for 21st Century Relationship

On Sakhisizwe today, we spoke to Mary Ovenstone - who will be facilitating a workshop about 21st Century Relationship on Saturday in Rondebosch. Mary and her panel of experts will facilitate the day-long workshop to understand emotional, financial and legal aspects for optimizing intimate relationships and partnerships. She explained more about what kind of challenges do 21st Century relationships face and what could be the contributing factors. The workshop will be on Saturday the 31st at Diocesan College (Bishops) in Campground Road, Rondebosch between 8h30 - 18h00PM and it costs R1200 per person and R2000 per couple, so a friendly advice drag your partner along even if it’s your ex coz you will pay less. Mary will also be running 4 2hr evening sessions with specific skills training, practical exercises and group discussions in November. Winter having an effect on Bloodstocks

The Western Cape Blood Service (WCBS) is appealing to all donors to donate blood as blood stocks are critically low. “The winter is having a severe effect on our bloodstocks and we are amidst a severe blood stock shortage”, says Marike Carli, Public Relations Manager at WCBS. There is a critical shortage in the O and B blood groups, with only a 2-day supply left. The A-positive blood stocks are also under severe pressure as only a 3-day supply is left. WCBS always aim to have a blood stock level of 5 days. The winter weather is not conducive to going out, and with the continuing storms in Cape Town, they are seeing the effects on their blood stocks. Blood donors suffer from colds and flu during this time and can subsequently not donate blood – up until the resolution of their symptoms .
