12 August - Gender - free Pap smear tests this Women's Month!!!

Today we heard from Soraya Elloker – spokesperson for the City Health. The City of Cape Town is offering free Pap smear tests at 98 of its health care facilities to mark the start of Women’s Month. It is reported that 3 400 South African women die annually from cervical cancer which is a treatable and preventable disease with early detection. 800 million people around the world are living with obesity.

  4th of March is observed as World Obesity Day and we spoke to CEO Professor Pamela Naidoo and Dietitian Kinza Hussian from The Heart and Stroke Foundation.  So according to the World Obesity Federation, 800 million people around the world are living with obesity. And then also in South Africa almost 65% of women and 30% of men are classified as being overweight or obese.
