19 July – Labour

Today we spoke to Ian Miller – Fundraising Coordinator from Softec Innovations. Softec aims to provide a hand up for vulnerable people, economically disadvantaged, disabled, homeless people and recovering addicts. Individuals are encouraged to put good ideas into practice using the support available at their centre. For more information you can contact them at (021) 788 4808 office or send an email to softec@telkomsa.net

We also spoke to Chris Hinrichsen – Managing Director of Thembalitsha Foundation. Thembalitsha focuses on community development within some of the previously disadvantaged areas of South Africa. Instead of creating dependency on hand-outs, they provide education and training opportunities that encourage people to take the initiative in using their abilities and talents. They do this via a number of community-based projects. For more information you can visit www.thembalitsha.org.za or contact (021) 529 4600.
