We also spoke to Henry Valentine – Director of Antarctica and Islands from the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism. The Department of Science and Technology has declared June Antarctica Month to make South Africans more aware of the unique and exciting research done by South African scientists on this frozen continent. The MTN Sciencentre will host a series of events celebrating Antarctica during June. This includes a mini-exhibition, a screening of a documentary "Endurance of Antarctica", a talk by Dr Pierre Cilliers on South Africa's involvement in the International Polar Years in Antarctica as well as the rare opportunity to explore the SA Agulhas. We closed off the show with an interview with Dianne Wilcox - Executive Committee Member of the Association of South African Women in Science and Engineering (SA WISE).
