Human Rights - Western Cape Education Crisis Committee launches education crisis hotline
In today's show, we spoke to Vanessa Le Roux – From the Western Cape Education Crisis Committee. The
Western Cape Education Crisis Committee, together with the ANC, SADTU and other
education role-players, have launched a special education crisis hotline. They
say this has become necessary due to the shameful failure by the DA to provide
access to quality and safe education to the children of the province. According
to the WCED, it is quite clear that this “hotline” is politicking ahead of the
National General elections. They say any parent can already contact their
relevant district office should they require assistance on a new enrolment or
any other complaint regarding a school. The education crisis hotline number is 086 099 6703. If your child is missing school because of no place, no teachers, no learner transport or because of gang activity please call the Western Cape Education Crisis hotline from Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm. The hotline will stay open for the entire second term (until 27thof June 2014). It will then be assessed. The Western cape Education Crisis Committee also calls on all communities to rally in support of the right to quality education and join the march against the Premier on the 23rd of April 2014.
