WHEAT Trust to launch ‘Every Scar Tells a Story’

Cathy Matthews - One of the contributors of ‘Every Scar Tells a Story’ spoke to us about the book and her personal story. In commemoration of the Women’s month the Women’s Hope Education and training (WHEAT) Trust is launching their first book entitled: ‘Every Scar Tells a Story’.The book is about grassroots women breaking the silence around violence against them. ‘Every Scar Tells a Story’ is the result of WHEAT Trust’s first writing workshop that took place earlier this year in Kleinmond and attended by 8 women from different WHEAT Trust funded organizations. The workshop's aim was to teach writing skills, including personal and technical writing skills as the grantees were encouraged to unleash their creativity and express the pains of their past in a constructive way. The book launch is happening on August 8th, 2013 at Artscape Theatre and will be followed by an award ceremony.
