02 October - Human Rights - NSPCA is urging consumers to make a difference

On Sakhisizwe today, we spoke to Andries Venter - Senior Inspector at the National Council of SPCA’s Farm Animal Protection Unit to tell us more about their appeal to everyone to make a difference by not only taking an ethical approach but also by challenging claims on packaging, promotions and advertising. As part of National Farm Animal Week which was commemorated from September 17th to 21st, the National Council of SPCA’s Farm Animal Protection Unit is appealing to everyone to make a difference by not only taking an ethical approach but also by challenging claims on packaging, promotions and advertising. The NSPCA is encouraging consumers to question what is on their plates or fridge which includes dairy products as people often fail to appreciate that the “free range” issue applies to all species, not just poultry. NSPCA believe that retailers should welcome questioning of this kind as those with ethical suppliers who can substantiate claims on packaging will be pleased and proud to advise. For further information or to report any dubious claims or issues of concern you can contact NSPCA on (011) 907 3590 or send an email to nspca@nspca.co.za to donate funding sms DONATE to 38018 it will cost you R10.
