17 September - Health - September marks Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Month

In today's show, we heard from Win Van der Berg – Chairperson of the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation in the Western Cape. We were talking about Muscular Dystrophy and the work done by the Foundation. The Muscular Dystrophy Foundation of South Africa is a non-profit organisation which supports people affected by Muscular Dystrophy and Neuromuscular disorders. They support affected people and their families by offering emotional support and genetic counselling. They also support research projects undertaken in South Africa. September marks Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Month and this year's theme is “Your support means hope” and is aimed at raising consciousness through awareness, education and promotion to society.
