Mitchell’s Plain Bursary and Role Model Trust empower school leavers

We closed off with an interview with Courtney Edwards - Chairman of the Mitchell’s Plain Bursary and Role Model Trust Representative Council of learner’s steering committee. He was speaking to us about the trust and how it can break the chains of poverty. 18 year old Courtney from New Tafelsig is a first year teaching student at Cape Peninsula University of Technology who believes only through education can the circle of poverty be broken. Through the Mitchell’s Plain Bursary and Role Model Trust he was able to enrol and register at CPUT and realise his dream of becoming an educator. The Mitchell’s Plain Bursary and Role Model Trust was founded by Minister Trevor Manuel of the National Planning Commission to get past pupils of the area to support and grow the fund which would be used to further the education of learners.
