DENOSA Professional Institute launches 'Helping Babies Breathe' educational program

We also heard from Wanda Mlotshwa - National Coordinator at the Denosa Professional Institute. She was speaking to us about how they trained nurses ‘to help babies breathe’. DENOSA Professional Institute recently trained 24 participants that included Advanced midwives from neonatal and paediatric wards on ‘Helping Babies Breathe’ (HBB) which is an educational program that aims to help meet Millennium Development Goal 4 to reduce child mortality by addressing one of the most important causes of neonatal death - birth asphyxia. The HBB training is the brainchild of the International Council of Nurses (ICN) and the East, Central, Southern African College of Nursing (ECSACON), of which DENOSA is an affiliate. For more information contact their offices on (012) 343 2315 or visit www.denosa.org.za
