Citizens Movement for Social Change calls for active citizenry
We also spoke to Heather
Son - CEO of Citizens Movement for Social Change. She was speaking to us about what
they do. Citizen’s
Movement for Social Change was established in 2011 out of a desire to see South
Africans walking together towards the South Africa that they envisioned
pre-democracy, a nation in which all citizens are actively involved in owning
their today and shaping their tomorrow in meaningful and empowered ways. Their
mission is to engage South Africans in the transformation from subject
identities to citizen identities by creating platforms for wide-scale citizens
empowerment. CMfSC brings together a cross-section of senior leaders from
spheres including politics, academia, business and civil society and as a
starting point, they have defined three pillars of action namely Advancement of
the Constitution, Consultative policy development and Subject to Citizen (S2C)
to strengthen the mindsets and muscles of active citizenry in South Africa. For further information you
can contact CMFSC by sending an email to hello@subject2citizen.co.za
