09 July - Health - Western Cape Health Department launches Women’s Health Season
In today's show, we spoke to Angelique Jordaan - Principal communications officer for the Western
Cape Department of Health to tell us more about the province’s Women’s Health
Season which kicked off last week and stretches from July to September 2012.
The Western Cape Department of Health is promoting Women’s Health Season as
it’s among the top five health priorities in meeting the Millennium Development
Goals of the World Health Organisation. Women across the province are
encouraged to make use of services designed to protect them against key health
risks such as screening for the early detection of cervical and breast cancer,
contraceptive choices for protection against unwanted pregnancy, HIV and other
STIs, free pregnancy testing and comprehensive antenatal care. These services
can be accessed at any public health clinic in the province. For more
information go to your nearest clinic.
