13 June - Gender - Sonke's film premieres at Encounters Film Festival tonight

On Sakhisizwe today, we spoke to Dean Peacock - Co-founder and executive director of Sonke Gender Justice Network. He was speaking to us about the 55 minute documentary film “Can't Just Fold Your Arms- a year in the life of the Network's quest to transform men in post-Apartheid South Africa by William Nessen. Dean is also the executive producer of the film. It will premiere tonight at the 14th Encounters Film Festival, the country’s most prestigiouss documentary film festival. The film is an inspiring story of moral commitment, a striking portrait of South Africa, and a necessary warts-and-all how-to look at the reality of ‘engaging’ men against HIV and for women’s rights and gender transformation. For further information you can contact the Network on (021) 423 7088 or visit the website www.genderjustice.org.za
