08 June - Arts, Culture & Environment - The biennial Cape Town Book Fair kicks off at the CTICC next Friday

On Sakhisizwe today, we were joined by Brian Wafawarowa - Executive Director of the Publishers Association of South Africa or PASA. We were talking about the Cape Town Book Fair. The biennial Cape Town Book Fair kicks off at the Cape Town International Convention Centre next week Friday, the 15th June. The three-day programme features book launches and signings, author interviews, literary workshops and forums, exhibitions and displays by book associations, distributors and stores, electronic book traders, libraries, literary agents and publishers, and much more. It reported that this year’s Book Fair will place a special emphasis on encouraging reading amongst children by creating a dedicated area for youngsters – the Children’s Zone. Doors will be open to the public from 2pm on Friday, 15th June and events will run until 10pm. The Fair will open again on Saturday 16th from 9am until 6pm, and on Sunday 17th June from 9am until 5pm. Tickets for adults is R60 per day and for Students and Pensioners it’s R30 per day. Tickets are available from Computicket or at the door, with discounts available for students and pensioners, and children under the age of 12 receiving free entry.
