09 May - Gender - Junior mayor sets sight on youth development

In today’s show, we were joined on the line by Thandokazi Sineke - the newly elected junior mayor of the City of Cape Town. She was speaking to us about her plans for the city. 16 year old Thandokazi from Ilitha Park, Khayelitsha was inaugurated in April after 124 schools took part in the vote on March 31st. JCC is an independent council that seeks to encourage, uplift, inspire and develop young people. The JCC office bearers in addition to the junior mayor include a deputy mayor, junior speaker, secretary, deputy secretary, ward councillors and chairpersons of sub-councils.
