CRL Rights Commission hosts the "Rights of the Dead" seminar

We also heard from Advocate Pheagane Solomon Moreroa – CEO at the Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the rights of cultural, religious and linguistic communities (CRL Rights Commission). We were talking about the seminar themed “Do the Dead have Rights? Promotion and Protection of Burial Rights and Right of Access to scared graves in South Africa” that they hosted in Polokwane last week. Although the commission celebrates and acknowledges progress South Africa has made in the attainment of Human Rights, it also  hopes to highlight some of the areas where most work needs to be done such as the areas of protection and promotion of cultural, spiritual and religious rights of ordinary communities, in particular the commission wishes to highlight the continuing violations of ancestral graves, also the Rights of the Dead and Associated violations of cultural, spiritual, and religious rights of the poor and rural communities in South Africa.
